*Tue., Feb. 7 – Tutorial 2: Selection from Lahontan's Curious Dialogues Between the Author and a Savage of Good Sense Who Has Traveled.  (A note about this reading: This text was based on Lahontan's conversations with Kondiaronk, the chief of the Hurons in the late 1600's. Kondiaronk had likely traveled in Europe, and was lauded as unbeatable in debate. This text was published in 1703, rapidly translated into many European languages, widely read and discussed, even turned into a play.
